The Munay Ki Rites: An Unexpected Journey of Transformation
When I first received the initiations of the Munay Ki Rites, I truly had no idea what to expect. It was part of a two-year shamanic training course I was undertaking with a local shaman, initiated by the Q’ero people from the high Andes of Peru. This shaman, a woman in her early sixties, had received her first nine rites from her teachers approximately ten years prior. However, she hadn't gifted the rites for a couple of years and was understandably a little rusty in her delivery. Adding to this, she was tired, as these initiations were the final part of our teaching day, and she was also managing arthritis in her hips and knees.
Consequently, my initial experience with the Munay Ki Rites was somewhat overshadowed by my teacher's lack of vitality. Furthermore, her difficulty in articulating what these rites were and how to work with them left me initially skeptical about their effectiveness. Yet, looking back, I can clearly see the significant shifts that occurred within me and my shamanic abilities. My capacity to see and sense messages from the spirit realms, along with my connection to my destined path, took a remarkable evolutionary leap forward.
Something about these rites truly intrigued me. I felt something, even if I couldn't quite articulate what it was. Sometimes, after an initiation, I would feel exhausted for days, while at other times, I was energized and almost over-excited. Following that initial training, I felt a strong pull to explore their history and their potential more deeply. I also knew I wanted to receive the initiations again, hoping to gain a fuller understanding of the process.
My search soon led me to an online teacher who guided me through the original nine rites, as well as a newer rite called the Womb Rite, channeled by Marcela Lobos. Marcela, along with her husband Alberto Villoldo, who runs the Four Winds Society, is perhaps the leading authority on all the Munay Ki Rites. This teacher was based in Australia, so we worked virtually via Zoom. While she was an adequate teacher, her explanations and understanding felt somewhat vague. She also incorporated dance and yoga to prepare my energy body for the initiations, which seemed specific to her personal approach to healing and awakening, rather than being an inherent part of the rites themselves. During the virtual initiations, I did feel ‘tingles’ as my energy shifted, but I felt that receiving the rites virtually lacked the stronger sensations I had experienced during my first initiations. Intellectually, I still craved more clarity. This highlights a common challenge when learning from energy workers: words often struggle to fully capture the energetic experience. However, I desperately needed that intellectual understanding to fully integrate the rites into my own life.
So, my search continued. I wanted to get as close to the source of the Rites as possible without needing to travel to Peru, which wasn't feasible at the time due to family commitments. As the saying goes, when the student is ready, the teacher appears. I found a retired Munay Ki Rites teacher in the North of England who was passionate about gifting the original, authentic rites. She agreed with my feeling that virtual rites weren't as powerful for the recipient. Knowing my intention was to share the rites with others, she was excited to gift them to me during a three-day stay at her home.
Those three days were truly magical. The peak experience occurred when we walked to the top of a trail high in the Yorkshire Dales, where we had breathtaking views stretching for miles, towards Manchester in one direction and the North Sea in the other. This sacred spot was where we chose to work with the ninth Munay Ki Rite, the Creator's Rite. This is the rite that bestows upon the receiver the ability to transmit the rites to others. Previously shared only with shamans, this rite is now available to all, as the Q’ero believe it is time for us all to awaken and remember our role as caretakers and creators of this Earth-based reality. As my teacher gifted me the rite, her partner, a professional photographer, took their dogs further away to give us space and captured photos of us from a distance. I felt the rite being delivered intensely, like a surge of electricity activating and traveling through me from my crown chakra down to my root chakra and then through my feet into the earth. That experience was powerful enough on its own, but later, as her partner reviewed the photos, we noticed a distinct ball of light moving from my teacher's hands towards my head. It appeared as if the energetic exchange was visible to the camera! I wish I had asked for that photo, but I was exhausted and overwhelmed, simply living in the moment.
She was a wonderful, brilliant, generous, and loving teacher. However, in contrast to my first silent training, she had an abundance of words and rarely stopped talking. My own craving for language to explain the rites had perhaps manifested as a teacher who couldn't stop talking! She was like an excited puppy, always wanting to play and full of energy, perhaps a testament to the Rites in some way. But it made it challenging for me to ground the experience, as the constant conversation made finding the quiet time I always need to process energetic shifts and fully absorb the teachings difficult.
Following my intense three days of initiations and teaching, I took dedicated time to sit with the rites, to integrate them, and to tune into how I wished to share them with others. How could I fully integrate them within my mind, body, and spirit? I've also observed that as the rites naturally realign the energy body in those I share them with, it can sometimes lead to feelings of tiredness, occasional dizziness, or, conversely, a state of overexcitement and overflowing energy. Because of this, I always ensure my students have time to rest after receiving a rite, and I typically guide them through a meditation to aid integration.
My Northern teacher shared her manual with me, a comprehensive guide written for Munay Ki Rite teachers by her own teacher. This master manual was exactly what I needed – a resource to work with to ensure the accurate delivery of the rites in a practical, physical, mental, and energetic holistic way. As someone with dyslexia, having a manual to reflect on repeatedly was incredibly helpful, as this is how I learn best. And best of all, there were no legal restrictions on sharing this information; I was free to use this manual as a foundation for my own teaching!
Since that time, I have continued to work deeply with the rites, exploring them from my perspective. I am filled with gratitude for all my teachers, and for Alberto Villoldo for his role in bringing these rites to the world, and to Marcela Lobos, who has also recently released her book, "The Sacred Andean Codes," which further explains the origins of the rites and how they have evolved into their current form. It's true that the way they are shared has adapted, becoming more accessible. Because so much more has been written and shared about them, the physical and energetic connection as the Rites move through me to the recipient feels even stronger. It's akin to planting a seed: I take a seed from my own chakras and place it into the recipient's chakras. This seed can grow if nurtured and fed, or it can remain dormant. To nourish the rites, we work with the element of fire in a special ceremonial way that I teach my students. Being in nature also feeds the rites, and specific meditations accompany each rite to support the integration process. It's not arduous work; in fact, it's possibly the easiest yet most profound shamanic healing and energy realignment – a true transformation – that I have ever encountered.
There are now ten rites gifted as part of this transformative series, and I believe it is most beneficial to receive all ten if possible. The rites are:
The Bands of Power
Protect you from psychic attack and help you digest old, dysfunctional energies.
The Healer’s Rite
Activates your ability to channel healing energy through your hands.
The Harmony Rites
Gift you seven archetypal allies to help you live in greater harmony, ease, and grace
The Seer’s Rite
Activates the inner eye (third eye) and the heart’s eye, allowing you to see from a place of love and understanding.
The Wisdomkeeper Rite
Connects you with the wisdom of the mountains and the ancestors, helping you find the medicine within your wounds and guiding others with wisdom.
The Daykeeper Rite
Connects you to the lineage of medicine people of the past, helping you step into your role within your community and live in greater peace with others.
The Starkeeper Rite
A more recent rite that awakens you to liberation from past trauma and pain, offering the opportunity to be an agent of transformation and change for all beings on Earth. It also helps you access the awareness of the quantum field, step out of linear time, and tune into the potential destiny of all humanity, fostering a sense of freedom from everyday drama and a focus on your transcendental purpose.
The Earthkeeper Rite
Helps you envision the Earth as a unified ecosystem, reminding you of our interconnectedness and our ability to heal our planet together.
The Womb Rite
This rite connects you with the feminine mystery and is for all genders, as we are all birthed through a womb. For women, it aids in healing the pain and suffering stored in the sacral chakra. For men, it helps clear imprints of suffering received in the womb. It's a powerful cleansing rite for everyone, helping to heal from the pain of this lifetime and ancestral lineage. It offers the opportunity to birth a new world by clearing shame, pain, and trauma from our energetic wombs. This rite also helps us remember the sacred feminine, releasing outdated negative attitudes towards women and restoring balance and the divine spirit within us, shifting from victimhood to being creators of beauty, harmony, and peace for all.
The Creator’s Rite
Gifts you the ability to share the rites with others, amplifying your power as a creator and allowing you to realize your creative potential as a channel for the universe's creative force. It can break the illusion of being a victim and awaken the powerful spirit within you, allowing you to relish in the beauty of the life you create.
I deeply love gifting these rites. Having witnessed their profound power in my own life, especially the immense healing I experienced as a woman navigating a toxic world, and the significant awakening they facilitated, enhancing my psychic abilities to connect with ancestors and see into the future, I am passionate about sharing them. These rites gave me the strength and power to fully step into my own authority and become the teacher I am today.
I desire to share these rites with as many people as possible, in a way that truly honors each individual who joins me on this path of healing and awakening. Therefore, I have created a course that deeply respects these rites, connecting us with the plant people, the stone people, animals, and the energy beings who are here to guide us. It's a comprehensive course that includes all ten rites and so much more!
While there are opportunities to receive these rites individually, I wholeheartedly encourage you to join one of my circles.
I hold two transformative Munay Ki Rites trainings this year:
The Shaman’s Way Immersion
Experience an immersive journey over two separate weeks this summer. This intensive format allows for deep integration and connection within a focused timeframe. Expect to receive all ten rites, engage in powerful ceremonies, connect deeply with nature, and build strong bonds with a supportive community.
The Shaman’s Way 13 Moons Journey
Embark on a gradual and unfolding experience over a year, meeting once per moon. This journey provides ample time for integration after each rite, fosters a strong and supportive community, and allows for a deeper exploration of the teachings and practices associated with each initiation.
The benefits of joining a circle are numerous: it's a more affordable way to receive all the rites, and you gain the invaluable support of a small group of like-minded individuals. My circles are intentionally kept small, with a maximum of seven participants per group, because I am committed to spending quality time with each of you and fully supporting your unique healing and awakening journey.
Who are these trainings for? Anyone seeking to rapidly improve their life and transform pain into peace! Anyone desiring greater spiritual awareness, connection, and wisdom. Anyone wishing to enhance their healing gifts. Anyone aspiring to improve the lives of others and contribute to creating a new Earth where we all live in harmony. I am here to support your journey as a guide and mentor, to show you the way. As I often say, we can heal our world, one heart at a time. Let us begin with our own.
